Google Expands Adwords Program to
Newspaper Advertising

July 18th, 2007

Who says newspaper media is dying? For Google, newspaper might still be a profitable advertising niche. Thus, it launches an Adwords extension program where advertisers can easily put up campaign ads on newspapers included in the Google newspaper advertising program.

The new ad program would benefit both newspaper publishers and advertisers by streamlining the process of making campaign ads which usually entails a lot of leg work and paper requirements. With the new Google newspaper advertising program, creating an ad campaign in these newspapers becomes as simple as, say clicking a mouse. Advertisers places a bid on which newspaper spot they would like their ads to appear on, publishers approve or disapprove the ad bid, then depending on the outcome of the approval/disapproval, then newspaper publishers run the ad campaigns.

Pretty easy task eh? Will this pull in more advertising revenue for Google Adwords? That would depend on the number of advertisers who will be interested to join the program which would depend on how these advertisers still see newspapers as a vital medium of information dissemination.

Why Small and Large Businesses Need SEO to be Successful in this day and age.

July 18th, 2007

More than 70% of online consumers start their quest for a product, service or support call using a search engine. If you’re a small business, how can you honestly afford NOT to be associated with this massive audience?

The bottom line is that you cannot afford to miss such opportunities — and today — we’ll discuss how you as a small business owner can use search to drive more business from people who have never even heard of you before.

Why You Need SEO

As a small business owner, you probably have a tiny marketing budget if one actually exists at all. The beauty of search engine optimization though is that it’s completely free for you to take advantage of assuming that you have the courage to edit some web pages. Please take note, it's free to do the basics, as you gain a marketing budget you can grow your SEO through specific high volume methods to greatly enhance SEO.

Beyond that, search engine optimization will provide your business with a long history of leads without any recurring costs. For example, if you optimize your site effectively as a Florist in San Diego — visitors can find you years from now. If you were to actually spend money advertising the same message — your newspaper, magazine ads and radio commercials would’ve all been out of print or in the trash by that same time.

So, to recap here — we’re talking about free traffic, from qualified leads, who are interested in your service. And all that’s required from you is a little bit of passion and patience.

Ultimately, you should consult with a professional search engine optimization professional like me, Joel to most of your plans. Out of the box though, there are a number of things that you can do to help market your business on the Internet.

Heat Maps of the Search Engines

Eye tracking map The image to the right is an eye-tracking map, showing where people look and click first when they do a search on Google.

Other studies have shown that web users follow a similar pattern on most of the sites they view.

The area in the upper left corner is what gets seen and clicked the most. This area has come to be known as the "Golden Triangle".

WEB TOOLS
make your business building more effective:

Gmail's huge success owes itself in large part to the wide range of applications, browser add-ons, styles, scripts and bookmarklets that work with it. From the get-go Google's stayed out of developers' way and turned a blind eye to unofficial Gmail add-ons, even ones that may very well violate its terms of service. Smart move: Google's high tolerance for third-party apps have only helped Gmail win the hearts of power users and tweakers everywhere. To celebrate, today we've got our top 10 list of unauthorized and unofficial but hella-useful apps that make Gmail that much better.
